сальса Музыкальный стиль, родившийся в среде испаноязычной общины Hispanic Americans г. Нью-Йорка в середине 1970-х. Соединяет в себе музыку кубинских негров, пуэрто-риканские мелодии, ритмы рока rock music, элементы соула soul и джазовых импровизаций; более глубокие корни - в танцевальной латиноамериканской музыке 1940-50-х (румба, ча-ча-ча, мамбо и др.). В сальсе используются как традиционные музыкальные инструменты, так и электрогитара electric guitar. Широко распространена во многих испаноязычных общинах США и оказала значительное влияние на танцевальную музыку в целом; большинство песен исполняется на испанском языке
